Last name origin & meaning:

Mainly Welsh (not recorded before the 18th century): from the Biblical personal name Enoch (Hebrew Chanoch ‘experienced’ or ‘dedicated’). This was the name borne in the Bible by the eldest son of Cain (Genesis 4:17) and by the father of Methuselah who was said to have ‘walked with God’ (Genesis 5:22).
